Master guitarist Steve Khan sounds quite laid-back throughout this set; even when soloing at his most passionate. With bassist John Patitucci Khan explores a Latinized version of x27x27I Mean Youx27x27 and an obscure Ornette Coleman tune; has features for flügelhornist Randy Brecker and bass clarinetist Bob Mintzer.

In a vein which seeks to create a blend between Jazz and Latin music, the trio was augmented by both Ralph Irizarry (timbal) and Roberto Quintero (conga x26 percussion), for unique interpretations of x27x27I Mean Youx27x27 (Thelonious Monk-Coleman Hawkins), and x27x27Hymn Songx27x27 (McCoy Tyner). However, the date began with Stevex27s composition x27x27El Faquirx27x27 which serves as another multi-cultural musical adventure, bringing together all the aforementioned players, plus spectacular performances from Bob Mintzer (bass clarinet), and Indian tabla master, Badal Roy, who was kind enough to bring along his wife, Geeta Roy to add the drone of the tamboura.
