Clovis’s surprise visitor introduces herself as Silvie Sulphur–a member of the butterfly family–and she is looking for a home. Clovis and his friends find her the perfect place and get her happily settled. Soon after, an unexpected storm sends everyone scurrying for cover. Clovis quickly realizes that Silvie is unaccounted for, but with his quick thinking, Silvie makes it home safe and sound. She created the famous characters of Clovis and his friends more than thirty years ago. Her dedication to children and to her art earned her the 1998 Acadiana Arts Council Lifetime Achievement Award.Julie Dupr� Buckner received her B.F.A. in graphic design from Louisiana Tech University. She currently lives in Plaquemine, Louisiana, with her husband and three children.

About the Author

Mary Alice Fontenot (1910-2003) was born in Arcadia Parish and worked on her grandfather’s Bayou Tigre farm in her youth. Fontenot spent thirty-five years as a journalist for multiple Louisiana publications and had a career as a kindergarten teacher. Named a Louisiana Legend by Louisiana Public Broadcasting and a Living Legend by the Arcadian Museum, she also received the 1998 Acadiana Arts Council Lifetime Achievement Award. Fontenot wrote eighteen books for the Clovis Crawfish Series.

A member of the Portrait Society of America, Julie Dupré Buckner received a BFA from Louisiana Tech University. She also illustrated Pelicanés Army Camels: Texas Ships of the Desert, Jubilee!, Clovis Crawfish and Echo Gecko, Clovis Crawfish and Silvie Sulphur, and Clovis Crawfish and the Twin Sister. She lives in Plaquemine, Louisiana, and teaches an abstract expressionist painting class for beginners.
